Kaiser Permanente of Oregon

Kaiser Permanente is the largest non-profit health plan in the United States, serving more than eight million members in nine states and the District of Columbia. The company is know for being socially progressive: it provides assistance to the uninsured and special populations; supports clinical research efforts; and emphasizes health education.

Kaiser Permanente of Oregon’s health insurance plans provide a number of options, including an HMO and a high-deductible plan that is designed to be used with or without a health savings account (HSA). Typically, all care is provided by Kaiser doctors and hospitals. Services are covered if the plan determines medical necessity exists. No claim forms or deductible are necessary; you make a co-payment, if necessary, at the time of your visit.

Some of the Kaiser Permanente companies also offer Medicare supplement insurance, which is designed for individuals who want supplemental coverage to fill gaps in their Medicare coverage.

The company is constantly seeking ways to improve service. Kaiser Permanente of Oregon recently expanded to offer members more choices and convenience. In the past year, it has opened two new medical offices and two new dental offices, and now offers members the choice of seven plan hospitals. Kaiser Permanente of Oregon has also entered into a new affiliation called Kaiser/Group Health, which is being formed by three healthcare organizations currently serving over one million members in the Northwest region: Group Health Cooperative, Group Health Northwest and Kaiser Permanente in the Northwest.
